The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum will clean and vacuum your floors with no effort. It also leaves the floors spotless. Its surprisingly affordable price and top-of-the-line features (such as dirt detection) are a plus.
Make sure to check your robot's brushes regularly for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models can also self-empty the onboard dust bin and place it in a larger bin at the base. This reduces the amount fine dust released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive sibling, the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums that we have test. They feature top-of-the-line motors that can generate up to 5,500 Pascals of suction force. Similar to other iRobots that are premium (including the most powerful model) they utilize smart mapping to create detailed floor plans and eliminate household obstacles like furniture leg. The robots also have Carpet Boost, a feature which boosts its power when it senses dirt on the carpet.
Both the Q5 and the Q7 Max Series get very high scores on our tests on floors that are bare They're also particularly adept in cleaning pet hair. There are some issues, however, that prevent them from being our first option. For instance, the Q5's navigation system doesn't feature AI-powered obstacle avoidance technology and is therefore prone to get caught up in socks and shoes and couldn't navigate tightly packed rooms very well in our tests. Also, it doesn't have cameras that let it see the corners of a room.
It's still a good value particularly if your home or office has a lot of unfinished floors and you're looking to save some money. It's also extremely quiet and works while you're at work or in school. The only thing it lacks that you don't get in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30 is edge-to-edge vacuuming of floors with no floor. It's also less effective in mopping, relying on disposable wet wipes that don't stay on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has an auto-emptying dock, however. If you're in need of it clean the mopping pad, it can be changed for an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba X30
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact elegant vacuum cleaner that can also sweep floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles, like pet hair. It also features a self-emptying bin with powerful suction and support for virtual boundaries. It's the best robot hoover for carpets, though it's not as effective as some rivals in deep cleaning.
This top-performing mop and vacuum combination uses advanced sensor technology to avoid obstacles and pet waste and it will learn your home's layout over time to provide more efficient cleaning. The app allows you to customize zones and change the cleaning schedule. It has a battery life that is similar to other models.
If the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted space, you can tell it to pull back and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm is ideal for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. However, it doesn't have the same washboard performance as our other Editors' Choice picks, the Ecovacs Deebot Ozmo N8 Pro+ as well as the iRobot Combo j9+.
In tests during testing, the X30 Ultra was the fastest robot vacuum/mop to complete an entire house, finishing with 66 percent of its battery left. It also did a great job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with mixed flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was superb, and it avoided fake dog turds and socks, shoes and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but offers superior suction and an onboard bin that is automatically empty into the base. It also supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It can also clean the floor even after it has vacuumed. This is something we haven't seen before on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
With an elegant circular design that looks more like a regular Roomba than the competition's boxes This mop and robot vacuum is among the most attractive designs in our evaluations. The newest model from iRobot is among the most intelligent model, with features that are cutting-edge like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that is able to wash mop pads).
It's the only robotic vacuum/mop that scored a perfect 10 in our testing, thanks to a combination of high-tech sensors, which include cameras, a structured light system, and multiple lasers. The X40 Ultra is also the only robot we tested that is fully self-refill and empty its base station and it has an industry-leading 12,000Pa suction and self-cleaning mop pads.
The X40 as with other iRobot products, is simple to operate. It has a simple mobile application interface and integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that the X40 still a noisy unit. This can be a problem in the mornings before work, or in the evening when you're trying to fall asleep.
It's also a bit expensive, but it's not as pricey as the Ecovacs Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are equally capable and more attractive. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that is very efficient, but it's more expensive and create more noise.
iRobot L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with a variety of sophisticated features that will let you forget about your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaner that is similar to Ecovacs top-of-the-line X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It comes with a multi-function dock that will automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum, refills the water tank, and cleans and dries mop pads.
The smart robot employs an array of LIDAR and structured light to draw out floor plans and spot obstacles, navigating more intelligently than some of its premium rivals. It also has a front mounted camera that can detect hazards in real-time, though this wasn't foolproof in our tests and was sometimes confused with obstructions or power cords.
Its vacuum cleaner has an maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also has a feature called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the power of the vacuum and adjusts the frequency of cleaning for various areas of the house depending on how dirty those areas are.
For bigger homes, it's worth opting for a model with spot or zone cleaning modes that allow you to instruct the robot to clean one particular area of your house by using the app or voice controls. A stair mode can be useful if you own a number of furniture. Finally a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is great for busy families.
5. iRobot Roomba RX3
The RX3 is a cleaner with more intelligence than you'd think from its price. It's a pro at cleaning, removing 55% of debris in our tests (it was second only to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mopses with one pad that has an oscillating motion that cleans better than most of the other mop cleaners for robots we've tried. It's also highly self-sufficient, with a fully-featured app, and a self emptying base that is washable.
robot vacuums cheap is designed to guide you through a mapping run that collects data on your floorplan, as well as any "no go" areas that you have marked on the map. It can be used to create cleaning schedules or create an automatic spot-clean. You can also use it to prioritize your dirtiest areas for better performance. The app offers a variety of features, such as seasonal suggestions, customized mapping, and advanced cleaning settings.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture more easily because its shape is more rectangular. It features an impressive 8,000 Pascal suction and intelligent combs to remove pet hair. You can also organize a spot-cleaner which will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek, cheaper alternative to iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive style, much like Dolce & Gabbana. The twin cameras are shaped like adorable eyes. It is excellent at vacuuming, but it is more likely to get stuck on low thresholds. It is also louder than other top robot vacuums we've examined. It also has a less user-friendly app and a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin for emptying.
